WCTA'S MOST RECENT FREE BEGINNER CLINIC WAS HELD ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27TH, 12:30 TO 2:30 AT THE COURTS ON TEXAN BLVD.
We sponsored our sixth free clinic for beginners on Saturday, October 27, 2007. Special thanks to Ron Mazzarella, Committee Chair and Coach John Wolf for his fabulous expertise and fun with the kids. We celebrated with Halloween prizes and lots of fun!

Tennis Welcome Centers, like the name says, "tennis is the game and everyone's welcome to play"! Learning to play is fun and as easy as finding a local park, school courts, or a tennis club. Right from your computer, join an introductory tennis program taught by a certified teaching professional. Start by going to tenniswelcomcenter.com
and enter your zip code to find a list of participating facilities (such as WCTA) in your area. It's that simple.

Coach Wolf (an Honorary WCTA Member) did a fantastic job working with the kids - we aren't sure who had more fun - the kids or Coach Wolf! Sincere appreciation goes to him for giving his time and energy for such a worthy cause.

Special thanks also go to WCTA Special Events Chairperson Ron Mazzarella who organized the event.

All the students had a terrific time and especially enjoyed the drills that were rewarded with prizes. Thanks go to the Austin USTA Texas Section for some of the prizes and to WCTA.

WCTA has begun a special TennisWelcomeCenter.com program for students at St. Stephen's Episcopal School. The participants range from grades 3 thru 8 and are being held in cooperation with SSES teacher/coach, Sarah Sherwood and WCTA president, Bob Kerrigan. Events are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.

WCTA 2007 Summer "Kids To Camp" Program sends 16 juniors to area tennis camps
With funds raised from the 2006 Ladies Benefit League, sponsorships from the 2007 May Benefit Fundraiser and various USTA grants, WCTA was able to send 16 deserving junior players to various tennis camps this summer.

We sent two juniors to Texas State University under Coach Tory Plunkett's summer program. And players attended WHS Texan Tennis Summer Camp with Coach Greg Howard and Coach Dick Smith, as well as Wolf's Tennis, under Coach John Wolf.

One of our goals is to "grow the game" of tennis and through these junior tennis camps, we are able to reach this goal.

Tennis - a sport for all ages...
